Like many groups within Fitch Ratings, the Corporates group places great importance on interaction with its colleagues around the world and other areas of the firm, such as the Sovereign and Structured Finance groups. This collaboration ensures a more comprehensive assessment of an entity's strategic initiatives, competitive position, financial performance and the overall dynamics of the industry in which it operates. Role profile Working in the EMEA Industrials group and reporting to the Team Head of the Basic Materials group, you will take lead analytical responsibility for a portfolio of European basic materials issuers. You will be expected to present and discuss your recommendations to a rating committee and will also be responsible for writing research reports and presenting Fitch’s opinions in an incisive manner to external parties. Additional analytical focus will comprise sector-wide research as well as ad-hoc commentaries.
The role will also involve presentation of the analytical product to issuers, investors, the media and bankers and entail some travel. You will be expected to keep fully up-to-date with market/industry developments and to proactively manage the rating process of issuers within you portfolio to provide timely and insightful opinion to investors.
The current portfolio includes European construction materials, mining and steel related issuers. The exact portfolio assumed will be tailored to suit your individual skills and experience and is expected to grow over time to broaden your overall knowledge of industrials issuers. This position is located in Milan but candidates based in London and ready to relocate within 12 months would also be considered. Person Profile You must possess strong financial analysis skills, including forward-looking cash flow modelling, preferably from a credit or fixed income background. Prior knowledge of the construction materials, mining or steel sectors is a plus but is not essential.
It is important that you are a self-starter with an ability to work independently; with excellent written and verbal communications skills in all forms of English and Italian is a pre-requisite.
